Roka Aldwych has always enticed but we hadn't been until last Sunday for the bottomless prosecco brunch.
The food is always exquisite in Roka and the Aldwych branch didn't fail to deliver. However, would I recommend it?
The bottomless prosecco brunch is certainly a good deal (having previously ripped through £200 with a friend in the Mayfair branch, this time was satisfyingly good value). The bar is wonderful and a little different but I couldn't get rid of this airport lounge feeling from beginning to end. The cloakroom had a check-in vibe and the decor was so 2004 it was just boring. No wonder you can't see into the restaurant from outside.
We were sat by the open plan kitchen which was fake as the whole time we were there, we ate with the fabulously boring spectacle of watching two men slice vegetables. Also, rather cheekily we were told that we'd had enough prosecco despite having 30 mins more for our table. We had our glasses filled again without an apology. I've been to many bottomless prosecco brunches and have never been told I've had enough. I have never ever had enough!
Roka Aldwych: the food is amazing. The service and decor is crap. It's a yay from us, well worth it, enjoy!
